Google’s newest image-editing model (nicknamed Nano Banana by the community) has been flooding social feeds. Its killer feature is character consistency: upload a portrait, and the face stays stable across new scenes, outfits and poses.
What happened
- The hosting app topped app-store charts in multiple countries after launch
- E-commerce sellers use it to batch-generate product scenes at a fraction of photo-shoot costs
- ByteDance, Alibaba and others quickly upgraded their own editing models
Our take
“Edit with words” is replacing “edit with a mouse”. The impact on design work is structural: routine retouching will be absorbed by AI, while taste and creativity become more valuable. Designers should fold these tools into their workflow now rather than wait.
